Challenge Quilts, Finished Quilts, QuiltCon

QuiltCon EZ Triangle Quilt

I submitted two quilts for QuiltCon, the EZ Triangle Quilt Challenge and the Michael Miller Glitz Challenge.  Neither were accepted, but I learn some great lessons in the process.  Let me share my finished Triangle Quilt, the lessons will be below.

Josi Heron - Triangle Challenge Entry

I really had fun quilting this one, as you can see, and I plan to put more effort into the quilting phase of things from now on.   Here are some more pictures:

Josi Heron - Triangle Detail

I was lucky enough to sneak 2 days of QuiltCon into a worktrip, and I was so inspired and overwhelmed.  In Kim Eichier-Messmer’s Modern Color Theory class, she relayed that it takes many tries to master a skill and to make something amazing.  While creating, you might make tons of ugly or marginal quilts, to eventually find your sweet spot, your style and flow.  I am not there yet, but will keep working.  So I am reminded of a thought that I had when getting into quilting, that no matter how it looks, at least it’ll keep you warm.  With that, I encourage you to try something new or outside of your comfort zone, and I will do the same!

Cheers,

Josi

I love your tiny triangle shapes and color in this quilt Josie. And I’m so impressed by your FMQ. You aren’t afraid to jump in and go for it.
