Charity Quilt Progress

I am happy to say that the 2015 Boulder MQG Charity Quilt Rally is off to a great start.  After the open sew this past weekend we have 3 complete cross tops!  Thank you to all those who pitched in to help.  Here is one top that came together nicely, despite the random colors and patterns from several different stashes:

Cynthia, Sarah and Shelly were instrumental in creating cohesion and balance throughout this quilt.  Here is the stack of squares that I created, made from fat quarters from Fabricate, donated for the BMQG Spring Retreat:

The other quilt top completed at the open sew was full of teals and grey, colors close to my heart!  Finally, Anne from SpringLeafStudios.com completed her own quilt top the following day, thank you Anne!   A big thanks also goes to Claudia and Cynthia for offering to baste and quilt these tops.  Claudia is planning on using this opportunity to work on new quilting techniques, a true win-win!

These blocks are very easy and fast.  In June we will move onto a more involved block from the MQG for the charity quilts, which I think will be a fun challenge!  However, we will continue to accept cross blocks, as I know of at least one person who wants to keep making them!

Here is the link to the tutorial for the cross blocks from thatgirlthatquilt.com:

With these blocks, please remember to focus either on Warm or Cool colors, and aim for a bit of contrast with the center blocks.

Thanks for following along, and happy sewing!

Thanks for all the help Shelly! We’ll stick to the Cross blocks as I think most people agree they are quick and easy!
