I have a finish, and it feels great. Literally, I am wrapped in this quilt, and it feels great: Warm and Cozy!
I love this quilt for the contrast, and the symmetry of the curves. The overall effect of the warm colors on the kona coal background spoke to me, so when I saw this pattern I knew I had to have it, even though I am usually a blue and green kind of girl. The design is called the Urban Candy Quilt from SewKindOfWonderful, and uses the quick curve ruler, or template that comes in the pattern. These were the first curves that I ever attempted, though they won’t be my last. It feels great to finish a quilt that I am not sending off.
Here is a close up of the quilting.
Luckily I discovered the joy of quilting to audiobooks so completing this was slightly less arduous then it looks. Now every time I look at this quilt I associate it with the Hunger Games since I made it through two of the books while quilting it. Perhaps I always will, in the same way that some smells bring back instant memories as well!
I have resolved that I love the creative part of quilting, the design process and piecing. The rest is just work! However, I currently have the high that comes from checking a project off the list though, so I’m going to ride this high and hopefully finish the #myquiltingbee project next.
The leaves on the back were practice for the QuiltCon Michael Miller Challenge quilt, using leftovers from the front. The effect of the quilting on the solid back is wonderful, and well worth the time.
What have your finished lately!?
